Mold free bathroom

Simple Tips for a Cleaner, Healthier Space

A warm, humid bathroom might feel like a relaxing spa to you—but to mold, it’s paradise. Unfortunately, mold can be more than just an eyesore; it can cause lingering odors, damage surfaces, and even trigger allergies or respiratory issues.

Here’s how to keep your bathroom fresh, clean, and mold-free year-round.

1. Keep the Air Moving

Mold loves damp, stagnant spaces. Improve air circulation in your bathroom by:

  • Running your bathroom exhaust fan during and for at least 20 minutes after a shower.

  • Cracking a window to let steam escape.

  • Using a small portable dehumidifier in especially humid bathrooms.

Pro Tip: If your bathroom fan doesn’t seem to help much, it might need cleaning—dust buildup can slow it down.

2. Wipe Down Wet Surfaces

After a shower or bath, take a few minutes to:

  • Use a squeegee to remove water from walls and glass.

  • Wipe down wet tile grout and flat surfaces.

  • Pull the shower curtain closed so it can dry evenly.

Bonus: This not only prevents mold but also keeps soap scum from building up.

3. Choose Mold-Resistant Bath Products

Some bathroom essentials can actually help prevent mold growth. We offer a broad range of products protected against mold & mildew, like:

  • Antimicrobial, product-protected shower liners that inhibit bacteria, mold, and mildew.

  • Anti-slip bath mats with built-in drainage holes for faster drying.

  • Quick Dry Mats
  • Suction cup baskets or shelves that keep bottles off the tub floor.

4. Wash Bath Mats and Liners Regularly

Mats and liners are mold’s favorite hiding spots because they trap water against surfaces.

  • Make sure to rinse your non-slip bathroom mats and hang them to dry after use.

  • For a deeper clean, machine-wash your mats and liners every 1–2 weeks (check the care tag first).

  • Hang them to dry fully before putting them back in place.

5. Fix Leaks Fast

A slow drip or tiny leak can create a mold problem in hidden places. Inspect:

  • Around faucets and showerheads

  • Under sinks

  • Around the toilet base

  • Choose splash protection that works, use curtain clips or shower splash guards to maximize your curtains’ effectiveness and keep leaks off the floor.

If you find dampness, repair the source right away and dry the area completely.

6. Keep Clutter to a Minimum

The more bottles, loofahs, and bath toys you have sitting in wet areas, the more places mold can grow. Use wall-mounted or suction cup organizers to store items so air can circulate.

Our soap saver, corner basket, and shampoo basket all offer excellent drainage and storage!
